VA: DD Transportation Services

1-800-TAXICAB
-National taxi cab service to encourage customers to plan ahead for safe alternative transportation
home. Anyone can call 1-800-TAXICAB. Its an east-to-remember, free phone call that dispatched a
taxi wherever and whenever a customer needs it. This national taxi-dispatch service operates
wherever any market where taxi service currently exist.

Anna's Ride Home
-The Anna Armstrong White Foundation operates Anna's Ride Home in partnership with local
bards and taxicab companies. The goal is to establish a way for people to enjoy themselves with
our great beers, and then get home safely. We helped to launch this free cab voucher program,
now in 32 bards in the Puget Sound area of Washington State. The program has kept more than
4000 intoxicated drivers off the road since 2003.

Hero Campaign for Designated Drivers
-Planning ahead to choose a designated driver is the option most customers prefer when it
comes to being safe and avoiding drunk driving. We partner with the Hero Campaign to
encourage the use of designated drivers. The Hero Campaign was created in 2000 to honor the
memory of the U.S. Naval academy.

Keep Your Balance
-We have partnered with the American Motorcycle Association to creat this national program.
It ofers motorcyclists rewards for pledging to ride responsibly and it provides motorcycle safe
driving tips. The program also encourages safe alcohol consumption and offers resources such
as prepaid phone cards and rider-training kits to promote safe rides.

Respect the Road
-The majority of the 80 million Americans who drink beer do so responsibly. However,
occasions arise when someone has had too much to drink and should not drive. Our Respect the
Road program recognized that drunk driving is completely preventable and promotes the use of
designated drivers and transportation alternatives. Respect the Road encompasses three
specific tools.

VA: Organizations Drunk Driving

MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving)

AIMS:
-Education (about dangers of drunk driving) advocacy and assistance.
-Strict policy in a variety of areas including illegal BAC of .08% or higher.
-Helping victims of drunk driving (includes family members and other loved ones of both innocent victims and guilty impaired drivers.
-Maintaining the minimum legal drinking age of 21 year
-Mandating alcohol breath-testing ignition interlock devices, for everyone convicted of driving while impaired.

Shift:
-Towards reducing the overall alcohol use. In 1985 MADD wanted to enforce criminalization of anyone who has been driving after drinking. Lightner stated that MADD "has become far more neo-prohibitionist than I had ever wanted or envisioned... I didnt start MADD to deal with alcohol, I started it because of the issue of drunk driving. That year Lightner left her position with MADD. Lightner was the original founder of MADD when her 13- year old daughter was killed by a drunk driver.
